Fall 2020: The Season of “Comfort-Chic”

Fall has arrived and along with the wonderful season comes new fashion trends to spice up our lives.  This fall, the beauty gods decided that comfort is a top priority, making the transition into the winter sweatsuit outfits that much easier.  This article is your complete guide to staying in style and making the most out of your wardrobe this season.

 Monotone Minimal Chic

Starting off strong we have the monotone minimal chic trend.  The key is to select a few pieces from your wardrobe in the same color and slightly differing shades to create more dimension in the outfit.  Accessories such as chunky gold jewelry, bold sneakers in any color, and long cardigans can be sported to break up the outfit.  The latest monotone styles have featured neutral tones, such as deep browns, sage green, beige, and off white; some of the most flattering shades for people of all skin tones.

2020 is the year of the blazer

Definitely one of the most consistent trends since the start of the year, and one of my favorites because of how classy you look with just one article of clothing.  I’ve seen every possible variation of the blazer outfit from very casual to more formal, all of which I love, because it makes comfy look chic.  Right now, the blazer is the perfect weight for the bit of chill in the air, and luckily can be worn under a bigger coat when the temperature starts to drop.  Although I was intimidated by all of the power the blazer holds, I encourage everyone to go outside of your comfort zone on this one and embrace the instant satisfaction of feeling like a CEO.

Dressing up the sweatsuit

This is the trend that I’m hoping stays for the long haul.  Simplistic fall-colored sweat suits made chic with cross body bags and chunky sneakers is the perfect streetwear look.  Instead of reaching for the hoodie, try an oversized crew neck and pair it with cuffed sweatpants.  I prefer an up-do with this look to appear a little more put together despite the fact that I have never put less effort into a look in my life.  Special autumn bonus points to all those who make the fit monotone.  Also, not to mention the best part about this look: bra = optional!

Bring back the shoulder bag

Dressed down or dressed up, shoulder bags can be added to any outfit you please. Not only this, but it can completely transform any outfit by adding that pop or color or a little bit of texture in a plain outfit.  A shoulder bag is an easy way to look effortlessly chic.  Personally, I am surprised that these bags are coming back in style because to me they’re rather timeless.  You can never go wrong with a shoulder bag, especially because it can also serve as a functional purse for a night out, going out to eat, or treating yourself to a shopping spree.

I hope this article gives you the tools you need to become a true fall fashionista.  Happy fall!
