QUARANTINE ROUTINE

My Quarantine Routine so far has been quite lonely, however, THANK GOD for FaceTime. Aside from calling my friends whenever I have the chance, I have upped my self-care routine, watched movies, read parts of books, and rediscovered old music that I once loved. I’ve also binge watched on YouTube, watched many TikToks, and even cleaned my room top to bottom. Some movies I’ve watched in the past few days include:

BOMBSHELL: A movie about the infamous Fox News sexual harassment claims and scandals revolving around ex-CEO, Roger Ailes. If you are unfamiliar, this movie is based on Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson’s (ex-News Anchors) experiences with Ailes sexually harassing them. It sheds light on what actually happened to some women before the #MeToo movement erupted. As hard as this is to watch, the movie revolves around women’s empowerment. The movie showcases Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson risking their reputations and careers to stand up to the man that made them who they were, famous news anchors. Definitely loved watching this one, as I am interested in working in the news and entertainment field!

TANGLED: Now I know you’re probably wondering, why Tangled?? Tangled captures the story of Rapunzel, the girl with the 70 foot long blonde hair, stuck in the tower. I felt that this movie could be semi-relatable, since I am a girl who’s quarantined (as everyone else is at the time). I looked to this movie for some ideas on what to do to keep myself busy. One part that gave me some ideas was the song “When Will My Life Begin?,” where Rapunzel sings of doing laundry, cleaning,  reading books, painting, cooking, playing guitar and more. She questions when she will begin her life and be able to go outside (RT). This movie brought me back to my childhood and was very fun to watch.

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S: Another throwback movie! This movie has been my long time favorite. I am so limited on what to say about this movie because I can go on about it for hours. This one follows the life of spontaneous (and a little crazy), Holly Golightly. She meets a young man who moves into her apartment building, and they begin to be friends… that’s all I’m spilling for now… it’s my favorite movie of all time so I would 100% recommend it.

A book I’ve begun re-reading is

When Life Gives You Lululemons, by Lauren Weisberger. I read this book when it first came out, and since have rekindled my love for. Based in Greenwich, Connecticut, the book talks about women who have found themselves to be friends over time: one woman is a former partner at a law-firm, now a full-time mother, another is an ex-supermodel married to a politician, and the third is a PR agent who is hired by her friend for the ex-supermodel’s PR crisis. I’m planning on watching more movies on Disney+ and binge watching

Love Is Blind on Netflix (a dating show similar to the Bachelor, however, contestants may not initially see each other, and instead have conversations behind a wall).

I would definitely recommend watching/reading what I have mentioned! I would love to hear back from readers for movie suggestions, book suggestions, and more! DM @thepointmagazine on Instagram if you have any recommendations! That’s all for now!
