I’m impressed with little when it comes to food. Living my entire life in the suburbs of New York City, my taste buds are spoiled. However, Bar Taco in Westport lives up to all of my expectations. The location on the water in Westport, CT makes for a beautiful view while eating. The bar has a wide range of tequila and the margaritas and bloody marry’s are insane. However, the food steals the show. I’ve gone to Bar Taco so many times at this point that I’ve probably tried everything on the menu. Here’s what I love-
S T A R T E R S
The Salsa Guac Trio. (pictured above) 2 Salsas, Guac, and their highly addictive chips. This is the perfect starter for a big table. Their salsas are tasty and delicious and the guac is creamy and fresh.
Tuna Poke Bowl. This is a newer addition to the menu, with poke bowls on the rise, I’m not surprised to see one on their menu. Served without rice, and with chips, this is a refreshing dish with a lot of flavor.
Shishito Peppers. I’ve tried a lot of Shishito Pepper in the past year, they’re huge right now in the culinary world. I was expecting them to be served with cotija cheese or plain and grilled- but I was actually pleased to see they weren’t. They were tossed in a delicious salt mixture that was tangy and contrasted well with the sometimes hot peppers.
S I D E S
Mexican Corn. I highly suggest getting this dish off the cob, you get a lot more corn, it’s easier to share, and easier to eat. This is the perfect side dish, packed with flavor; and because the flavors are probably something you haven’t tried before, this dish will leave a lasting impression.
Pineapple. This is a very simple dish, just fresh cubes of pineapple and a lime wedge. However, the addition of lime to the pineapple is a surprising new flavor and when your mouth is on fire from all of the tacos you’ll be eating- this will be a nice cool down.

Spicy Chorizo. These are my absolute favorite tacos. The chorizos’ spice paired with a lime is heavenly. These are cloud 9 tacos and I would eat them everyday if I could.
Chicken Pastor. The chicken tacos are served with pineapple in them, which is a great contrast of flavor.
Sesame Ribeye. The fall-apart texture of the ribeye is divine. I don’t eat that much red meat, but this is the perfect amount to fix my cravings.
Tuna Tatako. These pack a punch. The crispy shrimp tossed in a spicy mayo goes really well with a lettuce cup, instead of a tortilla. With any of the tacos you can write an L next to it on the menu and it will come out in a lettuce cup. Lettuce cups are healthier than the corn tortillas, but also allow you to taste more of the flavor of the food.

Chicken Pastor. Similarly to the Chicken Pastor tacos this bowl is awesome. Packed with fresh veggies, pineapple, chicken, rice, and herbs. The bowls are pretty filling and are good to share or as a more traditional entrée.
Glazed Pork Belly. The flavorful pork belly which is served almost pulled apart on top of the bowl is delicious. This bowl is really filling and not as light as the rest of the tapas style menu.
This is my official apology to my friends for constantly pestering them to come to Bar Taco with me. I dragged my family there during parents weekend, and my friends at home are sick of hearing me complain about the lack of good tacos in New Jersey. Bar Taco is an amazing restaurant- possibly my favorite in CT, and I highly suggest you all visit and try it out for yourself soon.
Thank me later.
