The Products That Absolutely Saved My Winter Skin

By Abigail Winey

I don’t know about you, but in the winter my skin gets patchy, dry, and flaky.

The cold takes a toll on your skin and being well hydrated on the inside AND the outside helps tremendously.

As many of us ladies and gentleman use retinol for acne purposes, our faces tend to be even more sensitive to the harsh winters causing extreme dryness and peeling

No one wants that!

These affordable products absolutely saved my skin this winter!

  1. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

This is a dermatologist's one true love, this thick cream saved me through accutane and now winters post accutane. It’s thick but non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores and cause acne), I use this day and night and have found that it always protects my face leaving it feeling extremely hydrated and smooth but not greasy. And the best part is… it’s cheap! Coming in at only $17 for a tub that lasts about 6 months… I’ll take it!

  2. Glow Recipe “Plump Plump” Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I just recently started using this stuff and let me tell you I am obsessed! I recently started a new retinol cream for my acne and my skin was dry, red, and flaky. This stuff absolutely saved me! I use it every morning before my CeraVe cream. My skin drinks it up and is unbelievably soft after. The best part is, I have a beautiful dewy glow after I put it on! Although this product is more on the pricey side coming in at $42, I do genuinely feel that it is worth it.

  3. Acure Rosehip Oil

Okay, hear me out. Putting oil on an acne prone face is probably the scariest thing ever. But let me tell you, this oil actually has benefits for acne along with its intense hydration. "For acne-prone skin, rosehip oil can be helpful because it has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, and it has low comedogenicity," (Hadley King, Licensed Dermatologist). This means, it helps reduce that red inflamed look of a pimple AND doesn’t clog pores. I use this oil at night because it does make me look a little greasy. When I wake up in the morning, I feel hydrated and ready to go!
