The Rise of PARKE by Chelsea Kramer
By: Ava Giangrande
Forbes 30 Under 30 Retail and E-commerce entrepreneur Chelsea Parke Kramer has become the recent up-and-rising “it girl”. Kramer launched her brand PARKE in 2022. The significance of the brand name comes from her middle name. In a competitive fashion world, what is it about Parke that has captured the hearts (and closets) of so many?
Kramer’s background in design and branding played a significant role in the development of Parke. Kramer graduated from Dickinson College in 2019, with a field in art studies. After moving to Miami in 2020, she was challenged to change her wardrobe to fit the weather and this sparked her idea to start her sustainable denim brand. Later, she grew to understand the importance of creating timeless, yet trendy pieces.
For Chelsea Kramer, Parke sales increased from $100,000 to $1 million from 2022 to 2023 and are expected to reach $14 million by the beginning of 2025. Parke’s most popular items are the Varsity Mock Neck sweatshirts, which are released once a month on the Parke website at 10 AM, making them hard to purchase.
Parke has collaborated with brands such as SET Active, creating an almost unattainable Mock Neck sweatshirt as well as a few additional activewear pieces. Parke and SET Active gifted influencers the sweatshirt to advertise prior to the release date, and as a result of so many viewers falling in love with the item, it sold out within seconds on the website. After purchasing two popular items from Parke, I personally understand why it is so popular. People are even reselling items for double the original price on Depop and Poshmark!
The power of social media played a huge role in the popularity and growth of Parke. Influencers praised the fit and premium material and quality of the sweatshirts, sweatpants, and jeans. This created a growing demand for timeless and basic-wear clothing. This combination helps to achieve a simple, yet sophisticated look. Parke has also hosted temporary “pop-up shops” in popular cities such as Miami and New York City, where they release limited edition clothing that customers can only buy in person at these pop-ups.
In a recent interview with Kramer that was posted on Lepelclub, she states, “Don’t let anyone hold you back or tell you that you can’t do something. If you have an idea or vision, just go for it. There is no time like the present!”
Chelsea Kramer is a prime example of how one small idea can lead to a bright future and to never stop chasing your dreams!
