Travel Must Haves for a Flying Fashionista

With Spring break upon us, everyone is excited about traveling and escaping the cold weather. For most people, traveling is the worst part of the trip, but there are ways you can make the journey more enjoyable. Whether you are flying, taking a train, or driving– here are some essentials to ensure a smooth-running trek.

AN EYE MASK

Long trips can completely ruin your sleep schedule and leave you jet lagged for days. It is crucial, especially when traveling, to get in plenty of hours of sleep. With the help of an eye mask, you can block out the light and any distractions that are deterring you from your precious sleep. An eye mask that people are raving about right now is the SLIP Silk Sleep mask from Sephora. An extra bonus: since the mask is made of silk it helps reduce wrinkles and doesn't pull on your skin!

JET LAG MASK

The brand, Summers Friday, created this mask for people who put their skin through a lot of stress, which is why it is perfect for traveling, the peak-time for stress during your trip. Another great benefit of this mask is that it is made for all skin types. This mask is just the fix to keeping you looking fresh-faced even at the high altitudes on a plane, or in the cramped backseat of a car.

NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES

There is nothing worse than trying to sleep on a plane, only to be constantly woken up by the loud sounds around you. Good news, the crying, coughing and talking can be silenced with a pair of noise canceling headphones. A great pair of headphones are “Beats by Dre,” they look cute and get the job done. They come in a variety of colors, so you can pick which best suits you.

A GOOD PLAYLIST/PODCAST

Long trips can get extremely boring, so listening to music or a podcast can be a great way to pass the time. (check out the POINT’S Spotify @ TPM )

A BOOK

Nowadays reading has become a job, let's change that! Reading a good book can make a 5-hour flight feel like 30 minutes. A good book that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire way is “You by Caroline Kepnes”. This book is what the Netflix/Lifetime show, “You” was based off of.

A HEALTHY SNACK

For long trips, there is usually food provided on the plane/train, but when you get hungry, it’s good to have something healthy close by. A good suggestion would be popcorn; my personal favorite is the “Skinny Pop” brand.

CUTE, BUT PRACTICAL LUGGAGE

Luggage is probably one of the most important things to have on a trip. It single handedly protects some of the most important things you own… your clothes... duh. Since you’re taking this everywhere and you don’t want it to get lost, it’s good to make sure the one you buy is sturdy and unique. It might be exciting to take the trip, but honestly, it’s even more exciting to pick the outfits you are going to wear.

This holds true to the outfit you wear on the go as well. When traveling, it’s important to dress comfortable, but it’s also important to look cute, because you never know when a photo opportunity will come around.

Bon Voyage!

Love, Sophia Rainone
