Birth Control
Birth Control isn’t just a contraceptive- to go into some detail, birth control patches, shots, and pills are human made versions of the hormones progesterone and estrogen. Birth control helps treat hormone-related issues like irregular periods, endometriosis, acne, menstrual cramps, and low estrogen levels. Some women need birth control in order to have their periods. There are many myths that surround taking birth control like it affecting your ability to have children in the future, or the elevated levels of hormones cause cancer, or that it will make you gain weight, or cause mood swings or personality changes. It’s important to talk to a professional about you concerns when it comes to birth control- a lot of these myths are caused by people who are just on the wrong type for them. Whether it’s the shot, the pill, an IUD, or the patch, it takes time to find the right one for you.
The Planned Parenthood action fund is not only a great resource on all things birth control, but also constantly stays up to date on legislation affecting birth control and women’s rights. It’s a great resource for learning more about top ticket issues.
Online Birth Controls
Here are three online home delivery birth control companies we found and love.
For Hers
For Hers is a “one-stop shop” for all your personal health needs. They provide medical grade products that span from everything to skincare, birth control, and sexual health. Confronting and fixing problems in the world by doing it themselves. Their birth control is $30 a month, prescribed by a doctor online, and they offer 10 different types.
Sounds simple, but we believe access to birth control shouldn’t feel like an obstacle course. The time it takes to go to your gyno in person, the hassle of receiving your new pack on time, or the several phone calls you make to find out why your insurance is no longer paying for this, can now be a distant memory. - For Hers Website
