Get The Look For Less
This week: Margot Lee
I don’t know about you guys but when I choose someone to follow on Instagram or sub to on YouTube, I like to look for people I can relate to. While it is fun to follow the Kardashians and watch Jeffree Star on YouTube their lives are just nothing like mine and I can get stuck in rut comparing myself to them. This can get mentally draining and I’ve learned to put my time into people that help me grow and inspire me to do better.
This being said Margot Lee is a perfect candidate, and definitely a chic with some unique style! Margot is most known for attending Syracuse University and vlogging about her life at school. In one of her recent videos, she graduated from her university over zoom. During this crazy time, it’s really easy to get down and think negatively about this situation, but despite everything, Margot is someone that always looks on the brighter side. She is a very positive person and if you find yourself in a slump, I definitely recommend checking her out. In everything she puts out it's easy to see her personality shine through and that’s extremely refreshing nowadays.
Not only is she a successful YouTuber/ influencer but she also has a niche for writing. She has her own blog on Mergotlee.com, where she writes about her life but also posts content on ways to better yourself. She keeps up with current events, like Covid-19, and even wrote a message to all students that were in the same situation as her, seniors, saying “stay informed, ask critical questions, and take precautions, but do not live your life ruled by fear”. I think it’s really important to have someone to look to that understands what you are going through, and her being a college student really solidified that connection.
If you are more interested in the fashion and lifestyle side of Margot, she does post things like the best loungewear and outfits of the week. It’s clear that she expresses herself through her fashion sense while still keeping it relevant to her audience and casual enough to wear on a daily basis.
Margot Lee is a breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to show you what looks of hers I can help you get!!
Look #1
This look is not something super usual for Margot, who we usually see in sweats or jeans, but it still represents a more feminine side to her style. As you can tell she likes to keep it simple and lets the clothes talk for themselves. While I couldn’t find any of the exact pieces that she is wearing I was able to find as close as possible. This look is perfect for the spring/summer period we are in right now, and once we are allowed out and about is perfect for a lunch date (with the girls or a special someone ;) )
Look #2
This looks so comfortable I couldn’t help but look for a similar version. This is for sure something you could wear around the house. or even to the beach on a cooler day, just like how Margot did. I was able to find the exact pants that Margot is wearing and…. I need them! They can be worn as is in a very casual way, but I also think with a cute sandal and a funky crop top can be worn out to dinner after a long day laying out on the beach. You get the vibe. I'm also pretty sure Margot’s glasses are real, but the ones linked below are bluelight glasses. They protect your eyes from the harmful effects of our phones and laptops and def a staple for 2020. Overall while this look is perfect together each aspect of it can be worn in their own way and fit any style.
Look #3
This is a typical Margot Lee outfit, very casual and could be worn every day. Jean shorts are a staple in a summer wardrobe, and although I couldn’t find the exact ones Margot is wearing, I found a similar pair from a brand I really like. I recently ordered shorts like these from Zara and I’m obsessed. To add a quirky touch to her fit she incorporated a palm tree printed button-up, but if this isn’t for you it’s just as cute without it.
Look #4
This look is super simple but has different aspects that I wouldn’t normally put together. Her dress is super simple and perfect for summer, on its own, but with Margot’s accessories, it gets taken up a notch. Although not pictured I did some snooping and found what she paired with her fit. Nothing I found is an exact match, but it is definitely inspired by what she was wearing. A huge trend right now that is all over runways and in consumer fashion is taking something really feminine, like this dress, and pairing it with something on the edgier side, like the boots. Even though you’re wearing a dress it's super casual and can be worn anywhere.
Now that you know a little bit more about Margot Lee I hope you go check her out and feel free to reach out to any of us @thepointmagazine on Instagram for questions or requests of who you would like to see next week on looks for less!!
