A Guide to Working Out From Home

By: Cate Geiger

Is the cold keeping you in this Winter?

Or maybe you don’t feel like taking the walk to the gym but are eager to get a sweat in?

Our busy schedules can make it challenging to block time out for the gym. Luckily, we can use workout apps straight from home that fit the block of time from just 10 minutes to 1 hour!  There are times when I am looking for the perfect quick 10-minute yoga video or core ab workout but I felt like I needed to follow an instructor to do so.  I started searching for different apps and found some that suit all different types of workouts and times. Most apps offer free videos to follow with trained instructors that coach and do the workout with a wide range of classes!

Below are a few apps I have used:

  1. Obé fitness:

This app features thousands of workout videos from yoga, strength, and HIIT

  1. Alo Moves:

Are you an Alo fan? This app is only $20.00 per month and specializes in different types of yoga classes.

  1. Peloton:

My personal favorite!! Did you know you don’t need a peloton to get access to free classes from Peloton? The app consists of outside workouts, meditation, yoga, and strength training. The app also motivates me by tracking my individual progress each day.

  1. Nike Run Club

Love to take runs more than core workouts? The Nike running app is another favorite when it comes to running. The app consists of free personal coaching throughout your run, playlists, and guided runs. The app is perfect for both the treadmill and an outdoor run around campus.

Download these apps today for a productive and sweaty workout straight from your dorm room or living room :)
