Everyday Makeup for The Sleepy Girl
I often choose 10 more minutes of sleep over makeup… often as in most days. For the days where I have a few extra minutes to do my makeup I’ve perfected a 10 minute routine. After trying at least dozens of mascaras, concealers, and products- the ones I use are my absolute FAVORITES. I hope this 5 step process helps the sleepy girl reading this…
Step 1. Until recently I didn’t really moisturize, the BB cream I use over the summer is a moisturizer and had SPF. This fall one of my best friends, upon hearing I skip moisturizing basically screamed and actually gave me a tube of her favorite moisturizers, wertyuio. (Thanks Vic) After using all of it, and ordering Mario Badescu’s Oil Free Moisturizer, I’ve noticed a significant change in my skin. I look healthier and my makeup actually looks different on my skin. I apply moisturizer after my nightly skin routine and when I wake up after washing my face with Mario Badescu’s Glycolic Foaming Cleanser.
Step 2. I just started using foundation- as in just. I don’t like wearing it everyday because I have freckles all over my face and when they’re covered I don’t feel like myself. However I do apply some foundation to my cheeks which tend to be a different color than the rest of my face, my chin area, and my forehead. I use Milk Makeup’s Foundation in the shade Honey- which is probably too dark. The changing of seasons is so annoying…
Step 3. Repeat after me- Shape Tape. Shape Tape. Shape Tape. I know it’s expensive but after getting a mini tube of it in my Ipsy Bag I will never use another concealer. I apply this over blemishes, in my T zone, and under my eyes. I blend it out with a beauty blender.
Step 4. My mom never understood why I wore makeup, or why I liked wearing it- until she saw me do my mascara in the car. I look dead without mascara on. I curl my eye lashes and apply Marc Jacobs in Noir (I’m extremely faithful to this mascara and it’s my forever and always). I also use Thrive Cosmetics Liquid Lash extensions mascara in the shade Brynn and Doucce’s Punk Volumizer Mascara. Lashes are important to me. I also recommend using Dior’s Maximizer 3D lash primer every night before you go to bed. It will nourish your lashes and I’ve noticed a significant difference. Step 5. My absolute favorite eyeliner and the only one I’ve found that I can wear on a daily basis is Beauty for Real’s eyeliner in the color Whiskey. It’s dark brown and accents my eyes really well.
Step 5. At this point I usually spent too much of my little little time for makeup on my lashes- so blush and bronzer needs to be a quick process. I use Milani’s double sided contour stick and a beauty blender to contour. I accidentally bought this little Blush to Go by Sephora last year and it' has ended up being great. It acts as a highlighter and blush on the busiest days. I apply this on the top on my cheek and along my top of my cheek bone. This is look leaves you with a natural, fresh faced look perfect for a long day. All of the products I use have drugstore dupes which work just as perfectly.
Happy sleeping sleepy girl!
