PRES BALL: THE NEED TO KNOW
It’s Friday night and looking around Fairfield from all directions you see girls in gorgeous dresses and guys all dressed up. Everyone is headed to one of the most exciting nights of first semester at Fairfield: Pres Ball.
The event is held on Bellarmine Lawn, site of the gorgeous castle-like building, a popular backdrop for Pres Ball pictures. You are sure to see your instagram feed filled the next day with pictures from the fun night before. Keeping that in mind, we hope you all have your beautiful dresses ready–- we’ll be looking out for jaw dropping pieces to feature on TPM.
For those of you who have not experienced Pres Ball or have forgotten how the night goes, we’ve made a list of a few things to know:
THE DAY BEFORE
Try to get some sleep the night before Pres Ball!
Not only will you be exhausted from the weeks classes, but Pres Ball is a late night— gotta look your best! Facemasks are always a good idea for the night before too.
Prep everything before hand for a hassle-free, relaxed time getting ready with your friends
It’s super fun doing your makeup and straightening your hair with your friends while listening to some bops, but no one wants to be running around looking for their other heel or trying to find their favorite Glossier Lip Gloss .
So, on Thursday night, find those heels in your closet, hang your dress on the door, and hunt down everything you need to look the beautiful queen you are. This is helpful so that when you come back from class on Friday to start getting ready you won’t be frazzled.
THE DAY OF
PLAN AHEAD- Make time for dinner, makeup, hair, pictures, and maybe some time to stop by a pre-game! Don’t be late though–– remember, doors close at 10 p.m., so make sure you’re up the hill to Bellarmine in time.
EAT DINNER- If you plan on ~getting your party on~ at a pre-game, please eat dinner (it’s the inner mom in me): don’t drink* on an empty stomach. Once you get to Pres Ball there will be food at Pres Ball too— fingers crossed they have the famous mac n’ cheese bites again this year.
BRING A HAIR ELASTIC
Nobody wants to have the “wet hair look” without professional styling.
Pres Ball becomes a mosh pit when everyone decides to go out on the dance floor. When we say it gets hot, we mean its a literal inferno. Hair needs to go up, and it needs to go up ASAP, or else it’ll get even more gross and sweaty then it should be.
TO CLUTCH OR NOT TO CLUTCH
Big bags are not allowed to enter Pres Ball.
If you need to bring something with you, go for a clutch. We recommend a cross-body so you don’t lose your belongings and can have free hands. They will be checking bags…so don’t put anything in there that you’re not suppose to be bringing in (alcohol and juuls).
This one is up to you
As we’ve mentioned before, it does gets hot in there, but the walk up and going back home may get chilly. That being said, there is no coat rack at Pres Ball. You can take the risk and store it in a bush and hope you find it there later, but good luck, Charlie.
Do not wear stilettos.
Let us repeat, no stilettos. You will quite literally sink into the lawn and have the struggle of your life trying to get out. Not fan of this word, but chunky heels do the trick. Thicker heels do too! If you don’t think your feet will survive the night in your fave heels, bring a change of shoes or be prepared to hide your heels under a chair. Just like with the coats, hide shoes at your own risk! We are a big fan of Vans: stylish and comfy, so if you have a pair, we highly recommend.
THE ACTUAL EVENT
Lots of pushing, shoving, people making out on top of you, jumping…..
go & experience it for yourself
You only get four pres ball opportunities, so go make some memories:
have fun, stay safe, take lots of pictures, and get wild.
* TPM does not recommend underage drinking. It’s illegal.
