A Guide To The Hot Girl Walk

By: Cate Geiger

Ever feel stressed while sitting in your favorite spot on campus and feel that you can not get your work done?

We all have these days!

It's time for a hot girl walk.

The famous Tik Tok trend has the ability to create a sense of mindfulness, improve self-esteem, and increase daily activity. Whenever you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, that is when it’s the perfect time for a HGW, as it can serve as a strategy to boost your mind, body, and spirit. Walking can guide you to better sleep, a better mood, and better life overall!

During the walk, be sure to take in the scenic route on campus (especially in the fall!). Whether it be around the lake, through the village, or the quad, there is plenty of beauty to take in and appreciate. Perhaps take a walk to town, the beach, or hit the Rec Plex in the winter. All are equally fantastic options!!

For me, exercise is used as a benefit not only to my physical health, but to my mental health as well.

It serves as a booster to feel more confident and to be concentrated.

Feel like you do not have the time in your busy schedule?

That’s totally normal! There are many days for me where I can’t fit a workout into the day.

However, we can fix this!

At first try to start out slow, with your walks to class; maybe your walks are only 5 to 10 minutes, but try to take time and think about something you are grateful for or your goals for the year rather than looking at your phone or thinking about something that causes you stress.

Tips on how to fit the walk into your routine:

  1. Put on your favorite sneakers and workout set.

  2. Grab your headphones and a water bottle.

  3. Queue up your favorite playlist or podcast.

  4. Create a routine that best suits you so you can keep up with it (you do not have to go on daily 5 mile walks!)

For me, after I go on a walk, I tend to be much better suited to accomplish the rest of my to-do list for the day. This will guide your mind, body, and spirit to feel refreshed and ready for the next assignment or activity of the day–and boost that confidence through the roof!
